Achoo! Dealing with Seasonal Allergies Naturally

Everyone hates spring and summer allergies! It starts with ragweed and moves on throughout the spring and summer. Also called "hayfever", many experience a condition that is characterized by sneezing, a running nose and itchy, watery eyes. Some studies have shown that people who suffer with allergies also react to tomatoes, peanuts, wheat, apples, carrots, celery, peaches, melons, pork and eggs.

What can you do when you are sneezing, your eyes itch and you can't see for all the tears streaming down your face?

Nasal washes may help to remove inhaled pollens from the nasal passages. Make a solution by adding a 1/4 teaspoon of salt to one cup of warm water. Bend your head forward, keeping the nostrils lower than your throat to prevent excessive salt water from draining to the back of your throat.

Limit Your Intake Of Junk Food

Foods that are highly processed, sugar and caffeine only serve to work against you when your body is fending off the spring bugs. Fruits and vegetables and plenty of water will help you stay healthier. Try a healthier approach with whole grains, fruits, vegetables and your 8 glasses of water a day.

Take Antioxidants

Antioxidants work in a number of ways: they may reduce the energy of the free radical, may stop the free radical from forming in the first place, or may interrupt the oxidizing chain reaction, thus minimizing the damage caused by free radicals. Thai-Go is a blend of the most healthful fruits and nutritional supplements from all over the world.  Thai-Go is replete with xanthones, bioflavonoids and powerful antioxidants. Bioflavonoids give fruits and vegetables their bright colors. In the body, bioflavonoids enhance vitamin C absorption and help maintain collagen and capillary walls. They also aid in the body's immune-defense system. Antioxidants scavenge the free radicals that the body accumulates as a byproduct of energy production as well as through pollution, tobacco smoke, ultraviolet light and radiation. Antioxidants benefit virtually every organ and body system because they mop up damaging free radicals. Thai-Go delivers a punch of antioxidant protection with a very high ORAC value.

Other examples of antioxidants are: Vitamin A, Vitamin E, COQ10

EFA's and Omega 3's

"Taking fish oil capsules in the winter may help protect you against a cold." - Ray Sahelian, M.D., the author of The Common Cold Cure. Super Omega-3 EFA fatty acids are one of four basic fats that the body derives from foods. While many of the other fats are harmful. Omega-3s benefit the body and are especially good for the heart. Super Omega-3 EPA is a source of two fatty acids, EPA and DHA. The body uses omega-3 fatty acids as one of the primary components of cell membranes. Omega-3s are also beneficial to the structural system and to the skin.

Think Zinc and Vitamin C

Zinc Lozenges can help support the immune system in times of seasonal stress. Each NSP Zinc lozenge contains a blend of beneficial ingredients that help support the respiratory and immune systems: vitamin C (ascorbic acid), sodium ascorbate, echinacea root, slippery elm bark, zinc citrate, licorice root, eucalyptus oil and menthol. Zinc Lozenges also contain natural sweeteners (sorbitol and xylitol) and natural orange, peach and spearmint flavors for a great taste.

Support Your Lungs And Respiratory System!

Elderberry Defense contains nutrients that work together to promote well-being during the seasonal changes. The immune and respiratory systems serve important functions in promoting overall health, and both can come under attack as the seasons change. Elderberry Defense was created specifically to support these systems during times of colds and flu. It consists of elderberry extract, echinacea purpurea root and royal jelly. These herbs are known to support and enhance immune and respiratory system functioning.

Herbasaurs Chewable Elderberry Plus nutritionally supports the immune and respiratory systems. Contains elderberry fruit concentrate plus the powerful adaptogens reishi mushroom and astragalus-all known historically for their ability to support the immune system. It's flavored with lemon and lime and sweetened with fructose. Each Dinotab is stamped with a friendly NSP Herbasaurs character.

ALJ combines selected herbal ingredients to nourish the immune and respiratory systems. Airborne particles are everywhere. When particles enter the respiratory system via the nose or the mouth, the body turns on its cleansing mechanisms, and the immune system is put on active duty. Herbal nourishment supports a healthy respiratory system that can be challenged by inhaled irritants. This formula supports healthy lung function and helps support the body during seasonal changes. It also encourages the entire respiratory tract to gently cleanse itself and helps promote respiratory tissue health. ALJ also comes in liquid form and tablet form

Seasonal Defense includes Fructus aurantia (six percent synephrine extract), thyme, oregano and eleuthero root for complete immune support. Andrographis has been used for centuries by many cultures. It is used widely in Ayurvedic medicine and is considered a "cold property" herb in traditional Chinese approaches; it is used to rid the body of "heat" and dispel toxins. Andrographis supports the immune system by promoting both specific and non-specific immune-response functions as well as maintaining the muscles in the respiratory system. Other studies show that synephrine may be able to help maintain the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract and that thyme and eleuthero root both have beneficial properties.

VS-C is an immune supporting formula that is a combination the Chinese herbalists would describe as a "metal-enhancing" formula. These herbs create a favorable environment for microbial balance and overall health. Developed by Dr. Wenwei Xie, VS-C is exclusive to Nature's Sunshine. It contains the following time-honored botanicals: Dandelion root, Purslane herb, Indigo leaves and root, Thlaspi herb, Bupleurum root, Typhonium flagelliforme, Scute root, Cinnamon twig, Licorice root, and Ginseng root.
